Behringer gear is a loaded topic. On one hand they release gear of questionable quality (the mixers) on the other hand they produce some of the most innovative and useful signal processors out there. Take for example their Ultradyne multi-band compressor/tube emulator. What a box! This has been my mastering secret wepon since it came out. No one does anything like this box. Six bands of compression! It's really to check out. Additionally, Behringer does a range of mic preamps, equalisers and dynamics processors that are really nice. Don't let the prices fool you: sometimes you get more than you pay for.

I use the 2442 Behringer. I don't use the effects in it but I think overall it's a good mixer for the price.

Behringer Monitors are nice; good bang for the buck. Behringer Mixers are garbage. Their mixers are very noisy, the channels all bleed through into each other and they stop working. Mackie is a much better buy as far as mixers are concerned. Pound for pound, i think the Mackie DFX 12 is the best mixer out right now as far as bang for the buck and reliability are concerned. 12 channels (4 mono, 4 stereo), with built in FX and a 5 band EQ on the main outs for $239.99.

Of course if you've got the dough, then by all means go for Allen&Heath, or Spirit.

that dfx12 is a$$.....I'll pick the cfx anyday........but for studio sh*t the vlz joints you can't mix....don't just trust products because the name on the product
