sample time in the mpc 60

how can you tell if i have the max memory installed in my mpc 60? i just got it yesterday and the max i can go is 5 seconds when i turn the jog wheel when sampling.

i heard somewhere that this is the max you can go per sample bank....how can i test this to see if i have the max memory?

It sounds like you're running OS 2.XX instead of 3, which doesn't throttle your sampling time. You'll wanna get a hold of OS 3 to make the most of the 60, and increase your sample time. Check out www.rogerlinndesign.com .

goto the sample screen and see how much sample time you have available.

goto the disk load screen and see how much free memory you have with no sounds loaded. 700+kb = standard 1500+kb = expanded

just open your mpc up and see if the chip is installed. It's a small elevated PCB on the left side of the machine you can't miss it. If it's not there you'll see an open slot with pins.

or sample mad 5 second samples until you run out of sampling time and try to save, if it takes up two disk you have it, if it doesn't you don't.

like i said its easier and quicker than that to goto disk load screen with a disk inserted but no sounds loaded and see the max sound memory. 700+kb = stock, 1.5mb = expaned. simple as that.
