Logic and MPC 1000 JJ os, MPC master

searched and found a good thread, did everything the thread told me to but no luck. Can anyone help me out please? It's urgent. Thanx guys! Even went to Guitar Center and didnt receive anything past what I read in the Thread.

Nevermind, I did it.

For others who got the same problem here is a tutorial sent to me by joeybells:

This is how to set up so the MPC is the master, keeping it's timing and groove.

Be sure to monitor the mpc audio with direct monitoring (available on most I/O devices), v. important, if you don't, you'll have alot more hassle with latency, meaning you'd have to go and fiddle with MTC delay settings in Preferences/Midi/Sync (which is actually quite easy.

Logic Settings:

In - File / Song Settings / Synchronisation / Midi

Make sure Midi Clock is not set to transmit (uncheck box if needed)
Make sure Transmit MTC is unchecked
Make sure Transmit MMC is checked
Make sure Listen to MMC input is unchecked

In - File / Song Settings / Synchronisation / General

Sync Mode = "MTC" (also check the Auto Enable MTC box)
Set frame rate to "25 FPS"
Set Validate MTC to "always"
set 'Bar Position' to "1 1 1 1",
set 'Plays at SMPTE' to "0 : 0 : 0 : 0" (VERY important)

ALL the above settings are song settings so you would have to save the Logic song as a template if you want these settings to be in effect every time you start a new song, otherwise would have to be done manually every time.


MPC settings:

In sync page (MODE+9 - F2)

Sync In = Slave
Mode:OFF
Recieve MMC: ON (This means Logic transport [play, stop etc] will trigger the MPC)

Sync Out = Master
Mode: MIDI TIME CODE
Frame Rate: 25
Send MMC: OFF

i must admit i find that quite useful.
im still working out.. why it glitches at the start of each recorded track..



i was still syncing with mmc in logic because i never changed when mtc came out in the mpc
thats a lot of acronyms with c at the end!

I'm actually using that tutorial but I still got problems in recording on Logic. Everything sounds weird, it misses the first bars and samples don't plays as they were sequenced on the mpc...

thank you very much... this helped me out heaps!! ive been strugglin with logic ever since i made the switch about a month ago. This improved the quality of my life!! haha

Oh and another tip for logic+mpc peepz:
Try right-clicking(or ctrl-clicking) the toolbar at the bottom, then go customize it and check the line that says "Sync". You now have a button that'll turn sync on/off. DOPE

Since i got my new mac i lost all of my previous settings in logic!!

this has worked in that logic is now controlling the mpc, but when i hit play, the file in logic does not start playing.. i wanted to hook it up so i can be playing my loop in the mpc and audition different beats in logic before i make a final beat bounce out and wack it in the mp.. is there a small configuration setting im missing in logic or the mpc? im on logic 5.5 on a PC.. peace
