cant you use a ipod with mpc?...*idea*

hey i have an ipod shuffle (not the new 1).cant you use that with a mpc 500?you can switch the ipod to store just data.

should/can i do that?hey but if i can i wouldnt have too buy a card reader or nothing right?!

Can't do that, the MPC500 isn't a USB-host.

One thing you could do though, is run a wire from the headphone jack on the iPod to the line-in on the MPC500, and then sample from the iPod.

Stupid question, i know, but how do you create a sample of just a rythem if say someone is singing on top of it? Is there a way to strip songs down?

What do you mean "strip songs down"? Like take out instruments, vocals etc?

The only thing you can do (more or less) is using filters or EQ.

I mean, say there is a beat you want, but someone is singing over it, is there a way to just take the beat w/o the singing?

Like I said, your best bet is probably filters and EQ, although it will be really hard (impossible?) to get all of it out of there without messing with the other instrumentation as well.

Oh right, so if someone wanted to sample a beat, they'd have to search through the song untill they find a bit without any singing?

That, or just sample with the singing, that can work out nice too.

i thought the mpc had a port and i am talking about getting the samples from it then put it to the pads anyway you can do that?.....anyways do you have any idea what the wire is called or where i can get it thanx!

The MPC500 does indeed have a USB-port, but it still isn't a USB-host. The only thing the USB-port is for is making the MPC500 a card reader, basically, when you hook it up to a computer.

The cable you would need to sample from the iPod or any other "headphone source" is a 1/8" stereo plug to RCA cable, and two RCA to 1/4" mono adapters.

hahaha yeah.. it's impossible.. but I had the same idea! ..but now i just put all the samples that I need on my ipod and record them in recordmode
