I want to select patches for my synths and sound modules from my MPC.
On the main screen I can choose from 0-127 but I want to know how to switch banks.

I know that I have to insert bank change messeges in an empty bar at the beggining of a track but I'm not sure how many (messeges). I think I read somewhere that I must insert 2. One for LSB and one for MSB.

I'm a little confused...

Can anyone offer clear instructions on how to change banks for a synth such as the Korg Triton from the MPC?

yo im having that same problem, its very frustrating!!!! but i think all you have to do with the triton is select it from the tritons panel, what bank you want to use. for every song write down the bank u use for every midi track, just in case the mpc didnt record system exclusive data.

sing the triton bank select works in combination and sequencer mode I read from the manual. The Triton midi chart is numbered 1-128 most sequencers are 1-127 so you have to add 1 for each bank number in the triton. If you have a MPC 4000 press window on Main screen program change and set both bank change and program change. Go into step edit and insert bank change and then program change in the sequence. Next either from combi or sequence menu on triton go to Track Param Page you should see midi channel and bank select button. On the Status button change it to EX2 for bank select. Go to the bottom of bank select and select the numbers. If you have the Triton Parameter Guide there is a Bank Map chart on page 137 I hope it helps.

Try this page: http://www.borg.com/~jglatt/tech/midispec/bank.htm
Bank Select is a Control Change, MSB = CC#0, LSB = CC#32

The bank layouts are specific to your synth as Blue Haze says. I found the way my synth does this by changing bank on the synth while recording the MIDI to sequencer.
My synth is a Kawai K5000S, so selecting Multi mode means sending CC#0 (MSB) =101, CC#32 (LSB) =0, then the program change.
I don't know if the LSB is mandatory, maybe you can leave it out.
