Direct recording

Is this possible on a 500?

Make a few beats and bass on the 500, and then record an external keyboard track in to the mpc500 at the same time as your 500 play the beats and bass tracks?

I guess this is possible on the 1000 running JJ.

yeah its possible. i already did it a couple times. wut u do is right before u record a sample (or anything u play externally), u hit playstart. so itll record while ur sequence is playing.

wut i actually do is link up a keyboard midi, record a midi track using the keyboard, then i record the audio of the keyboard doing this process (recording sample hitting playstart). it goes right on beat. after that, i assign the audio recording to a pad, then record the sequence with the pad i recorded the audio sample to, then muting the midi track.
