hello all,

some of you already knows that one of the thing i would love from my mpc is to control iternal parameters (mixer/q link) with an external/additional controller (for live needs)
sometimes it's possible for machines that don't have midi cc in to control parameters to use sysex (like for the dx 7 some parameters of the virus etc...)
ive tried with midi ox to find if the mpc send sysex (so i could assign a surface) but couldn't find nothing.

did someone found something about this?(i d'ont really if it's better to post this message here or in the mpc 1000 topic...i think it have is place in both sides...

thanks for the infos... :D

Does sysex work in realtime? When is send sysex the receiving unit wont respond to midi notes for some time (maybe the sysex was just too long)

i remember spending a whole evening trying to control the mpc1000's internal parameters (such as filter, decay, etc...) sending sysex messages from cubase sx to the mpc but unfortunately without success. nothing was responding... :(

the request to add control of the mpc using external midi controller has been in this forum for quite a while. actually when i first bought that mpc, i thought it would do this (its kinda standard thing in today's hardware) and i was very disappointed to see that it does not have this function.

i thought the jj os would do the trick (and i remember it was in his to-do list for a while) but that thing finally never came out.

that'd be the a hell (maybe the best to my opinion) of a function to implement in this great lil machine cos to tell you the truth, the q-link sliders are of pretty crap manufacture, making it not very convenient to use the mpc in a live environment (aside muting and launching sequences). being able to control the mpc with a remote zero sl would just be fantastic, since you can program its knobs to send sysex messages or any kind of midi messages.

anybody any more luck ?

As for me
I also spend several time to send into the unit those sysex from the tutorials of ak.sys software, and also those wich were corresponding to the MPC2000XL mixer (the only thing who were answering to a controller in this machine) and tried dozens of unit numbers in the code to identify the machine, but it never gave any answer...
Unfortunatly, we can conclude now that JJ won't introduce this function into his hack because memory is definitly missing.

yeah. unfortunately, it's taken up by the bulky vestige of an outdated and redundant program builder from the old akai software

i too would love to see this feature so i could build a midi sense unit with infrared detectors. would be out of control. not to mention i could use my radium's sliders more automatically

but hey what are you gonna do, we've got plenty to play with

 tout les francais qui se pointe quand on parle sysex, truc de fou

yeah this would be the killing feature to me to...

diod
can you say more about your trick on the mpc 2000 xl?
can you reproduce it on the 1000?

if JJ removes real time pitch shift , hope it would be for midi CC in to q link or mixer...
i've already sent an email to him for this request perhaps you could do the same...

Thanks god, sysex is an universal language

Traduction: C'est pas pour rien qu'en France on fabrique des putain de controlleurs midi dignes de ce nom 8) (fermer la parenthèse)

All informations about how to control MPC2kXL mixer by a sysex compatible controller can be found here: http://www.mpc2000xl.com/fader_box_control.htm
But unfortunatly and as far as I know, this trick is not available on the 1k unit :(

you obviously didn't catch the post that was before mine before it got deleted. it featured a nice tweety-pie tattoo. not much relevence to sysex though
