tempo detection???

check it out, I'm trying to do a remix. I have an acapella I'm using. I laid 2 bars of drums over the vocal track. I then sampled the 2 bar loop and had it looping perfectly. When I try to detect the original tempo of these drums through the edit function, I get something way faster than it is. on the 2000 you could set how many beats there were, in this case. How can I do this on the 2500 using the time stretching feature. I'm getting pretty sick of having to power on my 2000 to do stuff I thought this new one could handle.

Then turn the 2500 off and be happy.
Seriously working at 2X's the actual tempo usually will be correct or dividing the detected tempo in half.

the mpc 2500 unfortunately assumes that every sample is only one bar long so it displays incorrect tempo if it analyses longer samples or loops. cut the loop into two one bar loops and then use the tempo detection once more. you don´t have to destroy your original loop to do this, but i admit akai has to do something about this because it is very hard to work with such restrictions.

has their been any OS upgrade for the 2500 where the tempo detection works with loops longer than 1 bar now?

I left this thing in the box for a bit now, but want to get busy with it again.

JJ OS allows you to tell it how many beats ur samples are

im using jjos 5.26 i havent seen that feature yet ill have to check but does it detect the tempo using auto detect ? i had an acapella i wanted to find the original tempo but it never works on acapellas it gave me a tempo of 136 which is way off cause it ended up being 94bpm

So how do you change the tempo of a sample without changing the pitch in a 2500?
