3. The function which is in AKAI OS and is not in NEW OS.

  [SAVE/LOAD]
The save and loading to an internal-organs memory of sequence data.
Writing from memory card and HDD to CD.

  [MAIN]
  Direct recording.
  Continuous track.
  Locate WINDOW

  [TRIM]
  Auto phrase loop.

.. does the cd burner still work?? does it have to be in ram or what??
i was thinkin of getting the 2500 but id have to have jj os of course..
but man.. the direct record function on the 2500 was already perfect ... too bad thats not on there still.

The CD drive won't write, but you can read CD-ROM and CD-Audio disks.

The internal-organs bit means that you can save programs and samples into internal flash ram, but you can't save sequences or songs. For fun, I have written samples of the Roland MC-50 metronome in there, but nothing else.

Very incorrect.
It won't let you copy directly from the HD/CF to the CD, but the CD still writes just as with Akai.

Also the Audio tracks is much better than the old Direct record.

Not entirely correct yourself, ntalec. But we are getting closer to specifying exactly what you can and can't do.

* Neither OS has the ability to copy files and folders whether its to HDD, Memory Card or CD-R and CD-RW. You have to save something from memory.

* JJ OS will read CD-ROM and CD-Audio

* JJ OS will burn wav files as a CD-Audio on CD-R or CD-RW and will also close the session. These disks play as CD-Audio on most CD players.

* However, saving samples (WAV files) is the only thing I can burn with JJ OS 5.26. The DO IT button disappears when selecting any other type of save except A SAMPLE. It is not possible to burn entire projects to CD. This might also be true of Akai OS, but I'm not going to check.

So really you cannot burn to CD-R or CD-RW unless its an Audio CD, something I can't see myself doing. I'd have far more use for burning projects as CD-ROMs. And in that sense it does not burn to the CD drive.

Cheers,
B
