Hey guys, does anyone know any site with custom parts for the mpc 2k5 series? i got mine 2 weeks ago and this green display is drivin me crazy! i used to work with the 2000 for years so i miss this decent white you know.. man how could akai mount such an ugly display to such a nice mpc ? however i would be very grateful for any information.. maybe someone know which brand these displays are of? unfortunately the 2000 display doesnt fit into the 2k5 :(

what youre gonna have to do is buy a replacement from numark/akai and take it to somebody who can take it to bits and identify the spec

once u have the spec u are LAUGHING, coz u just have to look up the spec and then ull have a choice of all the colours possible coz LCD displays are made in huge production runs. looking up asian business directories will prolly be a good shout, blag a 'sample' from them so you can 'decide' if you want to buy in bulk

get in touch if you do get a hold of the full spec for the screen. oh and theres more to it than just finding the screen display size, youll have to find out these other details(i forget what they are exactly coz it was back in september when i went on a crazed investigation on this.

keep in touch

peace.

i emailed them asking for the full spec and all i got was sorry i cant find any record of it because we buy directly from another vendor, if you gimme a hundred dollars or so i can post you a new one.

good luck.

you'll be a hero if you go head and achieve this by the way, i just havent done it coz money hasnt been that easy to spend on it.

indeed.

despite it probably fukkin with the old eyes after a while i think a black n red one would be amazin, like it were a display on some manner of miltary radar or somethin in an 80s action film like Escape From New York.

i may have to go for the mpc 2k style though for longevity but i really wanna try my red n black idea for the crazy vibe

Most people in this forum couldn't afford a Roger Linn MPC when they were in production.

Well, to keep my answer short(and not stray off topic)....hell naw I couldn't afford an MPC 60 in 1988 nor could I afford an MPC 3000 a few years later....
