what would be the best way to sample from a site like youtube where you cant click the file and say "save target as" ?

hook up a mic and do it like that is all i can think of
but taht would produce bad sound quality.

or maybe sample from my headphones (out) plug directly to the mpc, but would i need a firewire audio interface to make it sound clearer?

and also this is a whole song, and i need only snippets from it...

maybe record it from my headphones out jack to the mpc in and then resample that as a song and transfer it to my computer as a .wav file then mess with it in my daw (soundforge)?

there has to be an easier way... and what about the sound quality?

any help would be great

have you guys ever tried this?

i do this all the time!

with my soundcard (emu 02 02 or something) there is a virtual mixer section - basically you will need to tell the route the youtube audio to the recording section of your mixer.

this is a craspuuly explanation, i know, but you will need to check the manual for your soundcard to get the exact details of how to do it.

he was talking about your virtual mixer.. but not all crappy stock soundcards can do that. mine for example. ive sampled off youtube before.. just go from the headphone output of your pc into one of the mpc inputs. either 1/8" cable with a 1/4" adapter on the mpc side, or 1/4" cable with a 1/8" adapter on the pc side.

Sampling from YouTube? That's a great idea! There's so many musos on there posting videos of themselves. Not sure about the quality though. You could use effects of course.

And yeah, straight from the headphone jack to the MPC would work fine.
