I want to attempt salvaging some of my first works done on an mpc 60. I have moved on to a newer model (mpc 500) that takes flash cards only. Is there a way to convert floppies to a flashcard?

I dont know how the 60 disks are formatted, but you could buy a USB floppydrive and bring the floppy to a computer, and then from the computer to a flashcard.

But I really don't know if this works.

That seems to be the general consensus. I called Akai tech support and they said pretty much the same thing about buying an ext. floppy drive.

Thanks

Yo has anyone answered this. I have a 1K and want to play all the tracks I recorded on the my MPC60II. I own a usb floppy drive and was wondering if it is possible and how to go about it.

I have a mac though. Isn't MPC Editor for PC?

What type of file is an mpc 60 floppy saved as anyway? Do I need a converting program along with an ext. floppy drive ?

I use a 3k & love this program for the akp. to .snd capability, converts WAV too. I have a USB zip drive to go from PC to zip. Sooshie's MPC Program Maker will also convert WAV to SND if ur using a Mac.

Thanks....Im going to try that...

Where is the cheapest place to get a zip with usb....

Also...can you take sounds and files from a MPC2000xl Zip and Put them on a 3000 zip so you can play 2000xl beats on the 3000?

thanks in advance

I searched google and came up with $50 US on Ebay, which i'm pretty sure is around what i got mine for. Maybe not a great price (plus it's loud as hell) but worth every penny.

It will convert to 3000 but there is only so much parameter editing available in MPCeditor. That said I've been exceedingly impressed by how accurate my 2500 programs/sequences sound in the 3K, but not so much the other way around. All the "cutoffs" get messed up cuz of the whack "mute group" feature. I guess i'm just old school because cutoffs make more sense to me

64 sounds eh? I'm not a data expert but that sounds maxed out. However if ur zips are formatted with the Vailixi o.s. ur PC will see multiple disc partitions and u will be able to have alot more than 64 sounds :D
