quick question

i set my mind on getting a 3k by the end of summer or early winter... so i might drop by here with couple questions now and then to help me out a little...

here is one...

Do i have to keep loading the OS every time i turn the MPC on like the 2k????

this one is kinda silly but... can u TS (Time Stretch) on the 3k??

Just wondering cuz i didnt see a lot of Info about the 3k FX on other sites...

No on releading the OS.

Time stretch I don't know about. You can't on the 60, and I assume you can't on the 3000, but I'm not sure.

ok cool so i don't have to keep putting in the OS floppy/zip every time i turn it on... thats one thing out of the way.

O btw is the loading time like the xl and 2k or slower???

the loading time will be slow if it has a floppy, with a scsi zip or better yet a scsi card reader load time should be much faster. To my knowledge there is no timestretch on the 3k. As far as fx and filters go i believe it has a lo pass filter and an echo fx.


all this info is noted in previous threads im sure, but you have to use the right search terms to find it.

some 3ks have the os on floppy. depends on if the one you buy has the os on rom chips in the machine or the os upgrade to 3.11 or whatever on floppy.

id suggest getting os 3.50 from rohan mansell if you do grab a 3k. there are many improvements.

By removing the old version OS chips and installing the "Rohan OS" as you are calling it. ( actual os at www.mansell-labs.com/products )
