Okay... I am trying 2 sync my 2500 with pro tools. I have the m box2. The issue I am having is Pro Tools 7.0 only has the 2k, 3k, and the mpc 60...along with some S series akai's..(what ever that is)in the midi studio setup for "Akai". Basically I want 2 sequence in pro tools with my 2500 and its "samples" not "midi". But I want them to start recording at the same time, tempo, and bars. I hope someone understands what Im saying. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks ahead of time

I have a mpc 1000 and Pro Tools 7.1. I use a usb to midi connection from my mpc to the pc. I have my stereo out from the MPC to the Input of the mbox. Basically what you want to do is Slave the MPC to Protools. Turn Midi on on the MPC then choose slave for whatever "Midi IN" port our cables are connected to. Then in Protools, go to Midi Setup and create a new instrument. Choose any Akai 2K, whatever, and just rename it to Akai 2500. Make sure all the options are in blue (events & sequences I think. BTW...I'm at work typing this from memory). Then go to Midi Setup, choose midi beat clock, select the newly created Akai 2500.
When creating a new track, make sure the resolution & tempo are the same as the MPC sequence you will be tracking in protools. Pro Tools should now control the MPC sequence. When pressing play in Pro Tools the MPC should start playing. **Note: Use the transport bar in Pro Tools to set the "start" and "end" times for the recorded track.**

I hope this helps...Happy tracking.

Sorry...forgot to mention, while in Pro Tools midi setup, create new instrument, make sure to select which ports use the midi. There's an option that says midi in & midi out port. I'm at work right now, but I'll take screenshots of my pro tools midi setup screen and post lata.

As far as Lampdog, try sending him a message.

I have Pro Tools 7.3 now: Here the screen shots. After Pro Tools Setup, Setup the midi on the mpc. Sync in: 1(Slave) if using midi in 1,
Mode: Midi Clock. Receive MMC off and Sync out: off. These are my settings on the mpc 1000 and they work. Hope I helped.

No it's not a dumb question. I have a m-box which captures the audio. You use whatever interface you have. Your m-audio interface should have inputs on them. Connect the stereo out of the mpc into the inputs of the interface. Here, check this thread out. I describe everything in detail here. Please comment if it helps or not.
