SAMPLING ON THE MPC4000

Ok I've have learned alot now I can not figure out how to sample in way where the sample fit the bars whether it be 1,2,3, or 4 bars. When I finally get the sample to loop where it sound like one peice it doesnt fit on the bars on the main menu unless I slow the tempo down to close to the bpm in the sample menu which is usually 40 which is slow and then when I try to add beats to it the drums or piano it doesnt record the way I play it I'm thinking because of the slow tempo. How do I make my samples fit the bars or/and have a normal tempo on the sample?

the way i do it is i chop the sample to the quarternote so that each time i hit the pad its on the downbeat. then I pitch the sample up or down depending if you want to speed it up or slow it down, repectively. The only problem with this is that you lose your pitch or key of the sample. Sometimes you want it, sometimes you don't care, sometimes it makes a difference.


Alternatively you can try using timestretch. I haven't been successful with it myself, perhaps i just haven't experimented with it other then with breaks. with the melodic samples its a bit harder.
