After transfering some of my old sequences made using mpc2000 to my smart media card on the mpc1000, the sequences and the program files cannot be loaded. Every time I attempt to load a PGM file it seems to load all of the samples then a message appears reading FILE NOT FOUND. When attempting to load a SEQ file a message appears reading WRONG FILE. What do these error messages mean and are the mpc2000, mpc2000xl and the mpc1000 cross-platform compatible?

no, they are not compatile, take a look at your manual !

the PGM file from 2kXL will only assign samples to pads, when you try to load them into the 1k. And the SEQ files...............forget it.

Is there any software converts or translates PGM files made on the MPC2000 or the MPC2000xl to the MPC1000? I need to be able to get those files converted? Any suggestions?

try saving the SEQ as a MID on the 2kxl, then import that into the 1k?

There's no translation for PGM though, since the filters don't exactly match up, the envelopes don't really exist on the 1k, and effects don't line up either. So how do you turn an apple into an orange? Like effekt says, it already reads what it can, but it doesn't go much further than that.

JK, it's true that you can save your SEQ as MID, but even then some of the info that is stored in the SEQ file will not be saved in the MID files, as the MIDI format was not designed to "store" those kind of info.
I think your idea is the closest as it can get, but there is no way of transferring 100% of info between 1k and 2k/2kXL .

goto www.mpc1000.com and get the program editor. It might help. The MIDI files should transfer I just dont think it can load the program.

I know this question is premature and it is stupid to buy hardware counting on a major company to update it into what you want? Will there be an update or software converter that allows 1000 users access to 2000XL PGM and SEQ's?

Is this simply impossible due to incompatibilities or just unlikely?
I appreciate honesty.

Some of the features that the 1000 has, 2000Xl doesn't have, and vice versa, so..... how would you convert that in a file ? ? ?
If you can answer this question, you can aswer your own question as well

good answer. I guess whatever overlaps would match up. Whatever doesn't, would be left out. So the key question is how much overlaps???

I can't decide whether to scoop a new 1000 or a used 2000XL. As a first-timer with a CPU, the 1000 is perfect, but if you can't upload 2000 XL PGM's . . . . ???
