beat slicing on the 2000

is it tru that you can beat slice on the mpc 2000. I bought one a while back and was told that you could do it the other day. if it is possible could someone please please tell me how to do it

you have to be tricky with the velocity and what not..

Serious Tom, the classic 2k doesn't have the auto chop function, even with the latest OS unfortunately.....you just gotta do it manually. Otherwise, get some software that can auto chop samples for you, then dump into your 2k.

OR, save up and get a newer MPC.....but in the UK, we all po'!

znEdit, make your zone press the edit button, choose what you want that zone to do(zone>new sample) then name and assign and press do it

I will explain this only ONCE:

Load a sample. Go to param screen (function f6) where you can change the pitch and decay.
Make sure you that is sample you want and the sample is set on mono and not poly.

Highlight decay and hit OPEN WINDOW.

(this is going from memory since I dont have my MP in front of me)
you can see some values 0 & 100 at the bottom of the list.
Switch them (make the zero value 100 and the 100 value 0).

Now, go back to main screen and hit 16 levels.
make sure the sample you just edited is the one you want. Leave the default settings as velocity.

BAM! You are done!

hit all of your pads.
chop chop chop chop chop ..
if you dont like where it is chop, go to your edit screen and edit the wave.

I hope this helps...I am at work right now so I am not looking at it.

^^^ I just tried this step by step from what you said and it didnt work. I recorded my sample in through mono L, maybe this effected it?

Nope. Record your sample, go into Trim mode, press Zone Edit, select the section of your sample you want to extract by adjusting the start and end points, press Edit, Do It.......blah blah blah.

Sorry, it's pretty simple, and a b*tch to remember without an MPC in front of me while at work. Try again dude.

Im still at work with this graveyard shift...wish I had my MPC but it works. I chop like that 70% of the time.
ZONE edit is the traditional way to do it though. My decay/velocity way works.
Make sure when you hit 16 levels, you change it to VELOCITY and no leave it at 16 levels. I apologize if I left that step out.

It works.

Trust me.

i fully support this comment, and better yet, recommend it be the fourth or fifth commandment should moses ever descend from a mountain with the 10 unholy MPC commandments in hand.

the first is "thou shalt obtain proper OS boot disk."
