Different Time Signatures

I know I've probably heard some before, but I can't think of them right now.

Anybody know of any hip hop songs where the beat is a wierd time signature? Or any other different/weird things the producer did with the beat?

can't remember names right now but MADLIB has several tracks in 5/4, 7/8, etc.

It's not strictly hip hop, but Hey Ya by Outkast uses a weird time sig. Some kind of 4/4 time sig with a weird 2 bar break/reprise between each part of the chorus. I tell ya, it can be a b*tch to mix.

Other than that, if you look at IDM - people like Prefuse 73 - there are some unusual time sigs in that genre of music.

Rob Sonic does a joint in 3/4 on his frst album. These cats Woke do some 6/8 stuff. Both of these artists are on Def Jux. Those are the 2 most common t sigs outside of 4. I wrote a beat in 3 bars of 3/4 and 1 bar of 7/8. I love 7.

Thanks. I was looking for some because I'm reading this book on the history of rock. The part I was reading was talking about when the Beatles were experimenting with rock music that wasn't in 4/4 and it got me thinkin about hip hop that might be experimental like that.

i believe Jay-Z ft Notorious BIG - Brooklyn's Finest is in a 5/4 time signature

thas what i do LAMP i experiment a lot with TS and tempo i like to play
my drums out as if uim the drummer kick/snare hats and all .. so a diff time sig adds to the creativity SOMETIMES other times youll make something sounds like a monkey fvkin a football lol

just the other day i was listening to a State Prop beat called....damn i always forget the name anyway it was in 3/4.

my fault the name of the track is, "it's on"

there is a record by Saul Williams that contains some songs in odd time sigs, if i remember well, the first one is in 5/4, live drums (sorta drum n bass ish) and great spoken word action. cant remember the name of the album tho....
but is a great work and i suggest all of ya who dont know saul williams to check him out.
