How can i get basslines from samples, say like a Pete Rock, Jay Dee or Erick Sermon?

Try parameter funtion on MPC and adust your filter setting and reson increments.

If you cant single out that bassline in the parameter screen, the effects (if you have em) will do the rest for you. Use that 4 band filter, maybe add a little distortion. Lower the frequency in the params section, you should be straight.

one time i lowered the filter to 0 and reson to 0 on a nice sample I was using. it made my loop a nice deep bassy sound. it was tight.

95 percent of my basses get the 0 frequency treatment

I put frequency between 0 and ten, and I turn the resonant filter up to five or more sometimes, gives it that extra rumble but if the bass note I sampled sometimes sounds like mush I have to turn the res down... sometiems it sounds great though
