...how long do we have to wait for the 4000XL (or 5000, whatever) ?

Just a 2500 with 16 audio outs, 64 note polyphony and the ability to hook-up an LCD monitor will do.

Come on Akai, get with it!

I can't find it now, but there was a post from someone who said the new machine would debut at the Summer NAMM show.

Is this still the case?

Get ready for the MPC .500 or another midi controller.

Hang it up . The software and Prosumer market is the focus now.

Beast like the 4000 are now extinct. Roland will most likely pick up the slack as far beastly hardware with their next flagship machine, especially now that they're being taken quite seriously these days. I doubt if Akai will return to any of it's former glory under J. O'Donnel .

That's depressing news. I was speaking to someone at Roland recently (initially about something completely different - I hadn't mentioned anything about owning and prefering the MPC) and he told me the company were stunned at just how well the MV8000/8800 had done.

There's life in that market yet.

you do know corporations never say that they are doing bad right... thats bad for them, it causes loss of customers, and just makes them look sloppy kinda like sony's current position with the ps3 or that damn raven moon who keeps doing reverse split
