2 quick and easy mpc4000 questions.

question #1. is the data wheel on the mpc4000 as pathetic (i'm sorry but it just is) as it is on the mpc1000?

question #2. you can connect the mpc4000 to your pc through usb, can you have it connected all the time and still be able to use your mpc4000 as usual, or do you need to disconnect the cable whenever you wish to operate the mpc4000 (like the mpc1000 works)?

the possibility to keep usb connected is a big pro for me. i'm still a little concerned about the data wheel though. i've used the mpc1000 quite a few times now and i can't help but feel that the thing might pop out at any time due to its lightness / hollowness.

it does appear to be the same on both machines, judging on the appearance of .jpg's i've googled for anyway. however i haven't had hands on experience with the mpc4000 yet, i hope anyone can clear this up for me.

i reckon it's been asked a lot before but i couldn't find it through the search function. i thought i'd make up for it by posting in an older thread.

are there any lists on the net / this forum with approved/recommended memory and harddisk types?

i have a .pdf manual from the akai site which states you can use 168pins dimm (pc133 sl2) sticks of memory. how many slots does the machine have? 2? if so: can i just put one piece of 512 in it and be done with it?

about the harddrives, does it support every kind of rpm speeds? upto what amount of gb's can i go? etc. etc. etc.

4k only takes up to 256mb sticks and it has 2 slots....
I ve seen alot of people praise crucial but i got two different brand with matching specs and it works flawless....
harddrives up to 80gig i seen some people use 120gb..........
