does this midi controller work without a audio interface???

its a M-Audio Oxygen 8 25-Key.and it can be powered with a usb bus or with an adapter....do i need a audio interface with it to make it work??? im gonna use it with software program.

and yo im sorry 4 alot of posts n stuff its just confusing and hard to figure out things...especially when you find a good deal on other equip. (plus when ur on a tite budget)
