Question on mpc with recording console

if i record midi sound in my mpc,and record all my sounds in mpc to the
recording console,there's always the same sync problems like in cubase or
logic,nuendo,etc..In fact i just wanna know if it's the same thing with an
virtual sequencer than an hardware recording??

midi is not sound.

midi is data, so do you mean record your midi data streams or recording the audio from the midi modules?

yes i know midi is only data.I just wanna know if when u tracking your track from mpc to recording console(not virtual)if there's some sync problem like with cubase.

lol.... so many people are missing so much basic information on audio recording/engineering. DAW's have limited your thinking power.

before they were DAW's you had to record THOUGH an analog console INTO a recorder.

The console is not complete without a recorder to record to. Be it analog/digital tape, or hard disk recorder.

and midi sync has nothing to do with a console......unless that console can generate or sync to midi. What are you using?

This might be an OS issue. What version OS do you have? I had sync problems with the Akai OS until i switched over to the JJ OS. Hope this helps.

i use keyboard controller and midi modules,and midi interface 4x4,emu
soundcard audio,mixer,pc.But i'm gonna buy the d3200 recorder

There are sync issues yes. Im pretty sure Jahrome did a massive post about the timing differences on the 2000 and 2500, have a search.


Is that a MIDI sport 4x4 interface by any chance?

And that Korg 3200 is on my hit list as well!

I sync (midiclock) my Roland VS2480 to the MPC2500 and record all the sounds seperately.....Even if sounds are from my keyboard and the MPC is the sequencer it still all lines up perfectly..

Basically once I have song I record each part/track (one at a time) into the VS2480..All I do is mute tracks (MPC) not to be recorded, arm recording tracks in VS2480 and press record (standby)......Now when I press play on the VS2480 the MPC plays as well....I can start it at any stage (ie..measure 14:00:00) and the MPC plays in line everytime...

In saying this I'm not sure what problems are encounted with Cubase....I'm guessing the Korg 3200 is simular to a VS2480

While we are on the subject, what are the benefits of using a hardware recording console over a PC?

Im thinking of going down this route, mainly because I get lots of background noise on the PC, esp when disk activity occurs.
