nym everybody knows its easy enought to chop a sample anyway but your missing the point - its valuable cus its no destructive - once you have made all of those chops you can then change them after maybee moving the start forward a bit on your 3rd slice for example.. If you wanted to do that now youd have to go back to your origninal sample.. you know what youd have to do an its LONG - the thing that annoys me about tis not being here is its OLD and should be an option IMO

This feature would be the must..I'm not surprised Ensoniq user's appreciate this suggestion..this is an option that becomes essential to hip hop producers once they know it's potential. It's hard to explain because they are many situations where this becomes essential and it can even change the way you make beats..it's great to adjust the swing of the beat, great for experimentations ..it can lead you to find ideas you wouldn't without this fonction.
As a comparison it's like.. a turntable VS soundforge when you're checking for the samples you want to use for the beat you plan to make
I'm not convinced it's possible to do it on the MPC1000 since I don't know anything about the technical aspects.

DAMN...its nice to see people brought this topic back up!

i mean it doesn't really matter since i guess JJ isn't adding anything more to the os, but still its nice to know other people see the value in this. like the guy above me said, its hard to describe how dope this feature is, BUT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A CRAZY STEP FORWARD FOR THE MPC imho. i don't think any of the other mpc's have this type of workflow in them, so this would have been the first one. asr-x and asr-10 people know how dope this feature is, but i guess since mpc heads never had it for the most part they don't see any need for it.

but DAMN. it would have been DOPE!

When I used to produce soley on my asr10 back in the day, I used that feature like a 100 times per project, no joke, ok maybe 99.

:?

geez, no need for all that captain hall monitor.

this thread was just a discussion of non destructive chopping, its benefits and how at this point it WOULD have been dope if it had been added to the jj os. couldn't really have discussed this for 5 pages in the request thread without hijacking that thread, and throwing this in the request topic would have pretty much left it killed and ignored cause that thread is pretty much just a wishlist that nobody really discusses. you kinda just post there and hope oneday in the future the OS will have what you put there, even though JJ already said no more new features.

damn, discussions on a forum shouldn't be so frowned upon and deaded so quick.

Yo Punch good request. Thats how I chop up some samples in Reasons Redrum machine. Some channels have a start dial and they all have length dials.
Has anyone ever used a korg electribe ESX? pretty much has that function.

yep, thats what originally made me think that non destr chopping was even a possibility!

man, if only you could set different start/end points on each pad to reference the same one sample.....so damn close..... :?
