File format editing

I've got a large sample library which I've cobbled together from recording sessions, downloads, CD's etc. A lot of the files won't load on the MPC500. I get "Unknown file format!". I know I can load each wav up into something like Logic or ReCycle and save them correctly the they will work but what i want to know is this: Does anyone know of a tool which I can use to convert them all at once? Or at least folder by folder?

What format are the sounds in now?

If they are mp3 format, try a program called FreeRip. There's a tool within the program that converts mp3 to wave and you can convert mulitple files at a time. I have an older version but here's the link to the newest version:

MP3 is a lossy format, I wouldn't suggest using wav samples from mp3's!

There are several batch sample processors for PC/Mac, use the search funtion on this forum or try google.

Thanks Snerg and wookjr - I'll look for batch processors.
The files are all already wav but some are 8 bit and some must be at the wrong rate cause they sound speeded up when I load them.

Since they are already in .wav try using adobe audition. Just open the .wav files and resave them. Audacity (freeware I think) might work also.

I use Batch Convertor that comes with Soundforge.

That sounds like just what I'm after. Cheers!
