Quantization and T.C.

Hi all...

I just bought my mpc 1000. I recorded my first beats and I
used the T.C. with a 1/8(3) option to remove randomness (I chose
1/8(3) because it hasn't the swing option). All my beats are aligned
perfectly but when I play back my sequence I can ear some
degree of randomness in some beat (randomness is about "when"
it appears and the "amount" +/- in msec).

Then try using different timing on the "random" parts. try using 1/8 on the sounds that are more random. you can apply timing to individual samples

Hi all!

I usually create a separate midi track for each kick sample I want to layer.
So more kicks, more midi tracks.
So if I want to modify my sound I need to move my midi events.
My midi events are all quantized, but I can hear some degree of randomness.

1/8(3) is a triplet....which will actually give you more of a swing than say 1/8th or 1/16th. Try using either one and i'm sure it'll get you closer to what you are listening for.

you need to choose the TC that best suits your style and ability.

if you are a professional jazz drummer then turn it off.

if you are writing 4 to the floor commercial house music, put it on 1/16.

you are best off experimenting to see what works best - i go for 1/16 usually because i like that robotic kraftwerk feel.
