Am I the only person on this forum that still uses the original MPC 2000? I bought it about 6 months before the XL came out and never upgraded, I feel so left out...

Smart choice! I own both the 60II and the 2KXL, and 9 times out of 10 I go straight for the 60II; The one awesome thing about the 2K is those damn advance editing features, It's almost too f#$@!$g simple! kinda like cheating.

cheers, and get that new OS already!!

Haha, like cheating? Funny, they say you should trust your ears, not your eyes... doesn't mean I'll stop using the graphic waveform editing on my 2000 though...

yeah, for the most part it's all about using your ears, but sometimes it sure is great to see the waves, especially when trying to loop something with funky timing, or looping something in a hurry.

I also own a MPC 60 (Mk1 though) and a 2000XL. I love both, but the sample editing on the 2000XL is so much easier it's ridiculous. Not that it is hard on the 60.

the MPC 60 has been around since 1988. It's still worth $750-$900. the 2000 you can get for just a little bit more off Ebay. the 2000 came out around the year 2000, right? as you can see, the 60 has held it's value for so long. it's like the Mercedes-Benz of beat machines. just get like a S2000 to go with it for timestretch and the filters, and you good.

I was the same way but after learning about the 60 I bought one and never looked back. I sold the 2000(Studio plus all upgrades) and bought the 60. I sold the 60 to buy my first mpc3000 and that was one thing I always regretted. The 60 has something very special about it. I've owned the orignal mk1 and mkii. Sold both. Finally got a fully loaded 60ii back and it will be given to my kids, and their kids, and their kids, etc. etc. etc.

Wow! That is some endorsement. I have a fully expanded 2000 studio plus and would love to trade it for one. What do you think is better, the mk1 with upgrade or mk2 with upgrade?

mk1 for style and wrist resting! mkII if you absolutely need a headphone jack (mk1 doesnt have a headphone jack!) other than that the functions should all be identical with the upgrades......

Its all preferences. I had both. I prefer the 60II. The ones I've had both had blue screnns just like my MPC3000 so it was easier to look at( I never really like the dull green screen of the MK1- though I heard you can change it to blue..but I'm not sure so don't quote me)

Also the 60II felt a little better to me as far as the sequencer goes(I've heard others say the same but keep in mind its just opinions- internally and almot externally they are exactly the same). I did a side by side with the MK1 and the MKII. I quess that it didn't help that Primo rocks the 60II. I think the 60II has a unique look...

I would settle for either. But I havent found any that I can afford. Then after the scsi and software upgrade your talking another $450. I need to try and sell my fully loaded 2000. My roomate has the xl and I have a 1000. It would be nice to get an older vintage one. :P
