hey there

i'm running my mpc 1000 with a slave keyboard so i can play samples as a real instrument (mainly mellotron synth samples) instead of just on the pads.

the problem is, it seems that the MPC can't recognize note-off messages from the sustain pedal (which is plugged into the keyboard).

so when i step on the pedal to hold a note, it holds it fine, but when i let go of the pedal, it doesn't shut the note off - instead, it keeps playing until the end of the sample(s).

anyone know if i'm missing something?
this seems like a kind of ridiculous lack of functionality, right?

any help much appreciated, thanks!

Hey,

Another thing that might help would be to switch the samples from one-shot to note-on. This would allow the mpc to receive and respond to note off messages. If you haven't already, you may want to check the decay of the samples also so they don't cut off too abruptly. Hope this helps.
