it's that crispy no-ess 1.07 sound!

i'm still rocking 1.07. but i've said that before. anyone got a link to the glitch how-to? i forget.

You can still get a glitch effect with the jj os. Heres how

1. Load in your sample
2. Turn Loop on
3. Make the end point close to the start (about 120 samples or less) You can play with this.

4. Put the sample in a new program at pad A1
5. Auto chromatic the sample (put cursor over Tune section, hit window and hit auto.
6. Go to pad bank C and D and hit the pads ...you should get some cool glitch/sample playback stuff there.

I use this for all kinds of weird noises...you can get your samples and breaks to play back in all kinds of strange ways using this technique.

i often use these kind of noises as subtle tone underlayers to cyms and as standalone percussive noises. do that and then put an lfo on it...ahhh

When I get to my other computer this week, I will find the original tutorial video and upload it for sharing. Maybe it could be uploaded to this server eventually, and the topic locked. Or if someone else has this from way back...

The basic idea (if I can remember correctly): You need to load up a program with a bunch of samples long and short. Then you need to go to the trim page and select a small section of the sample. The area selected should be near the first 1/3 of the sample, and should only contain a total of 32 samples or less. You need to play around with the numbers to get the right sound. This allows you to make the playback more gritty/distorted or less. You also need to make sure the sample has loop on, and note on. I haven't tried it on other os's. And I haven't had 1.07 for a while.

This glitch will play back all of the sounds in your memory off of the flash rom I believe. It sounds funky, slightly garbled, gritty, and filtered. This is killer for certain samples, as it can be recorded into ProTools and then put back into the mpc... you get the point. Oh, and if you erase the entire program and purge, the single little blip sample (that you extracted before) will still work the same. This is what makes me think its a flash rom exploit...

I have personally helped at least 20 friends in my career buy the MPC 1000 or 2500 with JJ OS. More at random guitar centers. anytime I see someone looking at gear I help em. Even though I dont work there, i've helped their mpc sales extremly. Only because of JJ OS!!!
