What am I doing wrong?

I have a Yamaha Keyboard, MPC1000 and a Behringer 4 line mixer. I have the audio out from the keyboard going to the Behringer, the audio out for the MPC also going to the Behringer. I've got MIDI cables going in AND out of the MPC and also in AND out of the Yamaha into each other. I recorded a MIDI track on the MPC and made sure the display said MINI instead of drum. When I play the track back, I dont hear the synth line. The output on thje Behringer is plugged into my home theater setup in the living room. Shouldn't the MPC tell (thru MIDI) the keyboard which notes to play (the ones I recorded)?

is your keyboard set to receive on the same midi track number you are transmitting on (from mpc)?

have you set the midi channel on the sequence page of the mpc?

have you checked all of the channel / bus / mute settings on your mixer?

are you existing in a parrallel dimension where what we consider to be musical instruments are in fact mind control probes sent by aliens?
