:mrgreen:

Hi all,

I just registered so I could use the 'search' function recently and have been reading a heap of topics... I'm amazed at the restraint and paitence some of you older users have 'round here!

I picked up a 2kxl recently and I'm still finding my way around it. It came with 32meg RAM but only the floppy drive damnit - so now I'm in the market for an IDE CF Card reader. Unfortunately it looks like all the internal card readers on ebay are USB2. Has anyone had any luck using an IDE -> PCMCIA -> PCMCIA adapter -> CF Card setup in their 2Kxl??
Alternatively any cats in London/UK know of a good place to find cheap 2nd hand PC equipment?

Anyways, just wanted to say it looks like a good community y'all got going here - I'll go back to lurking and learning for the moment methinks.

how do i make sounds come out of my mpc when i hit the pads? is my machine broken? is there an easy way to install some 2004 hardware into my 1997-made machine so i don't have to pretend to know how to pronounce SCSI correctly?
how do you make the LCD darker? is my LCD broken if i cannot change contrast?
can somebody shoot me a zipfile full of kanye west or neptunes soundsets?

chucklez - cheers Juke!

Lampdog - I'm guessing you mean a zip drive? There seems to be so much grief with zip disks here that I'm trying to avoid it. Also - not really into the external SCSI option - I wanna keep it clean. No problem - I've found one place that sells 'em (not as cheap as I'd hoped) so I think next payday --> CF card reader is on the way.

I bought my 2kxl with sloppy (floppy) brand new long time ago, I swapped for internal 40pin atapi zip, then swapped for internal 40 pin atapi cf reader, never been happier.

If you look on that site you'll see the internal hard drive option I think Mike had in there.

hey hey - thats what I'm wondering if anyone has tried?

IDE->PCMCIA->CF

Its half the price of the straight IDE->CF reader but I want to be sure it works... have you tried one temetrepo?

**edit - my bad - this is a CF reader - cheers mayne!

thanks for reading the manual for me nano, could you summarize it in three sentances using only one syllable words and sh!t?
Actually if I could just send you my MPC and you could load it up with beats and send it back yeah?
