Tricky Song Mode question

My beat is finished. All sequences are in the song mode well aligned. Sequence 1 is a "only words" part without drums and the rest of sequences behind have melody and drums. I converted the song to transform it into one one long sequence. When I convert it, the only "track option" (the two other ones are not relevant)) available is "REFERENCED TO 1st SEQUENCE". The problem is that the 1st sequence doesn't have the drums. Thus, after I've converted it, when I play the long sequence, the part following the "only words part" doesn' have drums! (as it is REFERENCED TO...).

This is my first MPC, any advice? And yes, I've used the search option...

Why don't you keep the sequence in song mode?

Because I want to re-record it to be able to transfer it on my PC. When I record it and press play in the Mode Song, the playlist remain on the sequence I'm on in the main screen. I want to put my song in a long sequence, re-record to transform it into a wav file (I have only a portable PC, nothing to record it directly) and transfer it through USB on my PC.

Does that make sense? I want to put it online cause I think it's good to have reviews from other people to be able to improve my sound the long run.

Anywaym, I'm still stuck. Any idea?

what mpc are you using?

if you're in song mode then it should play through all the sequences that you've set in song mode. Why would it only play the sequence you're on in the main screen? it never did that to me...

so maybe you wanna set it up something like this

imagine this is the song mode screen. Sequence name first then number of reps


Words Only (1)
Sequence 2 (2)
Sequence 3 (1)
Sequence 4 (1)
Hook (1)
sequence 1 (1)
sequence 5 (2)
sequence 4 (1)
Hook (1)

etc.....

Again, sequence name is first then number of times to play that sequence is second. If you're in song mode then all the sequences listed there will play out in the order you put them. Stay in the Song Mode screen and connect your mpc main out(s) to your laptop/pc audio input and record into your favorite audio editor software. it should be that simple.

I dont see the need to convert it all into one big sequence.

If you're using a decent daw program, you can have the mpc slaved to this via midi and record the drums into the daw even with the mpc set in song mode. The only additional hardware needed I see would be a small 1 or 2 in/out midi hub & some adapters for the cable conversion to fit the onboard soundcards' I/O. This configuration is very very inexpensive.
