What up all my ninchizzles out thurr in mpc land! Any one know how to freak these damn things?...I was playing with this on a drum program earlier but I couldnt get the results I wanted.....I'm just lookin for someone to break these features to me cause I would really like to try to incorporate 'em into my productions but I dont seem to be getting anywhere as the manual is quite vague as well...
thanks again.....

What do you mean like having the velocity control the tuneing decay and filter? Hit open window on those fields in the program menu. It's a great feature once you know how to work it.

try setting the resonance high on a long sample. then open window on the freq. setting set the attack and decay for long slopes. turn the amount up and listen how it affects the sample it should give you some kind of a peak of filtration so to speak. if you move the attack or decay it will change the timing of the filter changes. go from there....i just try different things with it. i would like to hear how it really gets freaked though....

you can get some great pschedelic effects by layering 2 of the same phrase sample and setting different filter envelopes for each one....

Do you want to know how to set it up, or what parameters and values I use for drum programs? I am not telling you the values I use, but I will give you some tips. First off to set it up, just hit open window on the fields that you want the velocity to control in the program screen.

Here is a tip/example that might be usefull:
When setting up the parameters, think about how a drum sounds when it is hit softly vs. how it sounds when its really hit hard.

Snares- hit soft: short decay, slight filter, softer attack- hit hard: longer decay, FAST attack, bright sound (Resonant).

Load up the factory sounds and programs, they are all ready set up this way, look at the way they have it set up, and change the values to your liking. I found the factory settings to be too weak for my liking, so i increased the parameters, wrote down the values on paper, and more or less use them as a guide line for all my programs. Between this, inserting tempo changes, and really pimping th sequencer, you can really make your drums sound like a live drummer.
