Up to now, how much would you say you spent so far on gear. Include everything from sample cd's to your mixers to racks to soundproofing to .....well, u get it.....

ill let yall know bout mine once i calculate a lil later.

the poll wouldnt let me add another choice, so if you spent more then 2000 just select the last option.

Counting in all of the records I've bought..
Plus I have / have had guitars, basses, drums, whatever.. you name it, and all have been used in my music at some point or another. So it goes waaaaaaay over $2000.......

But so what.
Some people have spent more than that on cigarettes alone, so I ain't sweating it.

Hey, it's a healthy obsession. It's hard to count, because I've been trading and buying and selling a lot, but it's definitely over 2 grand.

Over time its cost me a hell of a lot. As for my current setup,

Roland Jv-2080 - $400 (ebay, baby...)
Super Sound Set Expansion - $120
Orchestral Expansion - $120
Akai MPC2000xl Studio - $950
SCSI Zip - $25
Midiman USB Keystation 61 - $100
Gemini XL500 TT - $150
Cheap Memorex PreAmp for TT - $45
Mackie DFX12 Mixer - $240
AKG K-70s - $70
M-Audio MobilePre USB Audio Interface - $150

= $2370

I didn't originally buy my Laptop for music production (If I did it would be a Powerbook rather than a budget presario...), so i'm not gonna count that. But in case you're curious it was only $950.

AN MPC 2000, ROLAND SYNTH, BEHRINGER MIXER, JBL STUDIO SERIES MONITORS (4), RECEIVER & CD BURNER GETS TO BE PRETTY EXPENSIVE, MORE THAN $2000 PLUS SO FAR.

$2000 is not a lot of money for a project studio. i payed $1800 for my mpc2000 (rarely use it) with 8 audio out and a memory upgrade 5 years ago. another point of view, my favorite top vsti cost (and i have tons):

gigasampler - $599
sampletank 2XL - $380
atmosphere - $380
trilogy - $380

i have not talk about about software apps, hardware (modules), mixer(s), monitor(s), sample cds and for the old heads how much have you spent on cables (midi/audio) alone?

I guess I haven't spent too much on cables, if you don't count guitar cables, then I've spent a fortune!

yes $1800, i got it the first week it came out. upgraded to 8 audio out, maxed out memory, external zip and cdrom, and installition. looking back it was the sh*t. i have out grown it. today, i would buy a laptop ($1000), reason($300), recycle ($130), echo indigo soundcard($100), m-audio keystation 49 controllor($100) and all the volumes of sonic refills($300) by sonic reality. a little over $1800 but take into account inflatioin. with this setup, i would have as many drum machines, samplers and synths as my cpu would allow. technology is great, but the mpc2000 was the sh*t.

I spent over $2000 on my interface I/O alone. mpc brand new costs at least half that. There needs to be a category at the bottom for TOO DANG MUCH!
