Mute Groups

I may have the opportunity to upgrade to a 3000. I use a 500, and whilst happy with it, I feel I've outgrown it pretty quickly. The only thing slightly holding me back is the lack of mute groups on the 3000, something which I use frequently on my 500. Whilst I have read every post on Mute Groups here, I am still a little confused as to what the 3000 can actually do - I think I understand that under OS 3.1 you can use 1 pad to mute another two? Is that right? Is this mute "targetting"? Some clarification would be greatly appreciated as this is the only thing holding me back from purchasing this 3000.

Don't take this the wrong way but if you are even remotely happy with the 500 the 3k will expand your horizons so much that something like the lost of direct mute groups would be quickly forgotten.
There are many ways to use note triggering or Simult to mute multiple pads or samples.
Not as straight forward as Mute Groups but you pick up so much with the unit change.
Then again you could always sell the 3k and get a 2500.

Thanks. Its not like I'm not happy with the 500. Its a great machine, but things like lack of outs and unspectacular pads mean the 3000 looks like a good next step. Is note triggering or Simult a fairly easy thing to get to grips with - can I basically trigger mute any of my pads?

You have to look at your chopping playback habits to see what could or would work for you.
You can associate any pad to 2 other pads and associate each of those pads to 2 other pads.............
You can use velocity switching to switch between what sound is played on a pad so that can help associate how sounds mute each other.
You can use pads in another pad bank with no sound assigned to mute pads that have sounds
You just have to verify your needs and be a little creative, but the 3k is a whole lotta woman compared to the 500.
