Take it out, then immediately put it back in. It's pretty much on the same lines as having sex, take it out...put it back in but really fast over and over. But in this case you can leave out the repetitions.

I wasnt being funny when I said this. Its true. I work in the IT industry and the amount of times I see people seating RAM without any anti static mat or grounding is unbelieveable. Having said that I didnt use it on my MPC! Basically if any part of you fingers touch any part of the RAM except round the edge you have probably fecked it. Not instantly, but the finger print (dirt) will slowly erode your RAM and then it will go altogether. All RAM will do this eventually (due to cosmic rays), but you are speeding it up if dont use some kind of grounding.

What kind of cosmic rays?

Erm, not sure - like Radiation I guess. You know - cosmic rays!

High energy rays from space which, in space, are primarily protons (92%) and alpha particles (6%). In space, cosmic rays come from all directions

Pull the ram out of the MPC and then resit the ram back in the slot. let me know if this works, ps my MPC is kinda in a warm place and ive never had anyproblems the other thing is im running JJ OS..... :)

Ive had the same problem before and after expanding the RAM with the 16 levels locking me out and I absolutely CANNOT assign any sound to the top upper left pad..
If I do it causes this problem as well as if you hit the note repeat button and nothing else , it will play the top left pad , all whilst locking you into or out of 16 levels..
Ive even sent it back to AKIA but although happenin less it still does it if its been on for a while or especially if you assign a sample to that pad...
I want to get the JJ and maybe that will help.

I hadn't checked this thread in a while - thanks for the responses.

I find it extremely curious that the 16 levels stops functioning at the same time as the changing PGMs from the main screen. I don't think there are any particular input patterns that trigger this behavior. It seems totally random. However, the fact that both of these symptoms are always concurrent makes me think it is probably software related.

It is very intermittent. I haven't been using my MP much lately but when it does happen it is a pain in the ass. I don't mind having to go into PGM mode to change PGMs but I enjoy using 16 levels and haven't found a work around for that when it is in this buggy mode.

I guess I'll try reseating the RAM although that sounds like a long shot.

You dont have a sticky button do you? Like the Shift, Window or even the 16 Levels key?

When it next gets stuck, try tapping all the buttons a couple of times. (not the pads)

Trust me no dis but that aint gonna fix it..
Ive tried everything when this happens and the only solution I have found is complete shut down and prayer.
Which of course breaks the whole creativity thing..
