Cant cut my samples

Does anybody know what a disk write error means?

I am trying to chop a sample into 8 zones on my 2000xl but everytime I try and save the program I make it will save the first two zones and then stall on the third,

If i try and repeat this process to manytimes the MPC will freeze and say waiting........

I can save a program with two zones but anything more than that and I start having trouble

my ram is maxed out at 32 megs and Im using a 512 mb compact flash card to save my files on,

Any suggestions?

I was thinking maybe Im sampling tracks at too high of a quality

at 44khz 16 bits in stereo?

-You many have bad ram, that can cause the machine to do the craziest things.
-you may need to reinstall or update your OS
-you may have a bad CF card
-you may have a corrupt CF card that needs to be reformatted
-you could have a bad CF reader
-something could be loose or wrong with the connections to the CF reeader

All of which are pretty easy to check/verify

After re reading the initial question, your right, this would be my guess as well. Sorry for the confusion.

hmmm,

so I should try one of three things?


Downloading a new O.S, of akai's website

Buying A new compact flash card or checking the connecting wires,

Purchasing new ram of ebay?
