WRONG....rong Consequence " DJob Song" prod by Kool-Ade 2007. Decent joint too....Muy Favorite Flip of Nautilus is Preemos- Jeru "My Mind Spray". Nothings safe, any record is fair game... Just dont LOOP it(especially Nautilus!!) i see people talkin about clearing samples....If u aint in the Game-big time or at least got your foot in the door, yet..dont worry....When u do get in...If someone buys your joint, its the artist and the labels problem...not ours... but on the contradictory tip, yall know u can get pinched over some drums? Diamond D had Lee Dorsey come at him over the Drums in Fat Joe's "Flow Joe" LD's "cover of "Get out of my Life (Woman)"...But he didnt catch no heat for the main loop--"Theme from Hawaii-Five-O"

Man, you guys should definitely check Wagon Christ aka Luke Vibert's tune Deux Aus De Maia on Ninja Tune - DJ Kentaro does a nice cut with some Run DMC over the top of the track on his Solid Steel compilation (if you guys wanna check it?). But Wagon Christ flips Nautilus real cool, and even though I thought it was gonna be totally wack when I first heard it, it turns into a really cool tune, despite Nautilus being the predominant sample throughout.

Sample whatever, just flip it right. If it sounds like every other motherf*cker's version, then give up and go home. You ain't doing anything new or different, so try something else!

ok, so wat about taking a particular sound from a song?
I remember taking the ride bell sound from stand by me many years ago.
this is why i ask, the track i made suked ass anyway but i figure any "sound" is open slather, take Dillas donuts for example, u think he didnt respect these artists?
just my opinion...

this thread is hilarious.

anything is fair game if you are creative with it.

i mean "the funky drummer" or "amen brother" are cliches, but people are still doing great / amusing things with them.

I would say that no Prince song should be sampled ... but The Bomb Squad killed it when sampling "Let's Go Crazy" For Public Enemy's "Brothas Gonna Work It Out". ~ CLASSIC! ~

But even so i personally think u are looking at it wrong... which in my opinion would block alot when it comes to ur music making

i dont think anyone can make Queen/David Bowie Under Pressure sound dope. Vanilla Ice ruined that.
