Yo I'm about to lose it! I think my mpc is DEAD. She started crashing more and more recently, and now today, i was beating her and (sob) :( she wont show any signs of life. Of course this happened when I was finishing a very gansta track (thank GOD I saved it). I've read the different posts about crashes so I understand this is something that can happen but, I'm getting no signs of life! Please give me your opinions on what I should do. I have her unplugged now, hoping that may help. I got her on ebay a few months ago so one question I have is, if I have to replace her, should I take that same risk again or should I buy a brand new one. Can AKAI help me?? If you have any input, recommendations, anything, please let me know whats up. (sob) This is a said day in hip hop...

Well, you can send it to an authorized repair shop and pay , or you can sell it to some **** on ebay and buy a new one ! I would do the second.

i'm really sorry to hear about your situation. One question: have you checked the ram? How much ram do you have? If you have expanded the ram on your machine, did you install it yourself and where did you buy it? Sometimes bad ram can cause the kind of problems you described.

yah i agree.. try taking the ram out. for that matter try starting the mpc with no options plugged in at all and then plug each one in one by one until you find the source problem (if it's hardware).

you say no signs of life.. does that mean she doesn't even light up? right there if that's the case it's a power routing problem. could mean a fuse blew and needs to be replace or something worse. if you don't already, you should be using a power conditioner to power your mpc (it's worth it). if all other lights come on except the screen than obviously the screen is the problem.

you just gotta figure out the source of the problem,

If the screen doesn't light up it could still be the power supply, namely the converter, but if you can hit play and it plays, it is definately the screen or part thereof.

no matter what.. the led lights flash when it boots or when there is power. that's what i was refering to.

thanks for the responses. she's showing NO signs of life. nothing lights up at all. the only time i see light is when i power back off and the screen lights for like half a second. i contacted AKAI tech support and they stated that it should be fixable and they sent me a list of available service centers. there's one down in miami so i'm def gonna see what it will run me. i got the money for a new one but its def money i dont want to spend if its not necessary. i'm just praying they can bring her back to life. this s**t has got me down all day. hopefully they're not gonna try and rape me on the servicing! all your responses are highly appreciated.

put her in her box, dress up real nice and bury her in your back yard. have a full blown funeral. you have to go through the mourning process, before you buy another and start to make beats again. rip
