Program Changes / PGM 1 - xx (Explanatiion)

Ok, so im tired of saving in the MPC and loosing my MIDI controllers so 1st let me explain, im using 2 sound mod.'s MOTIF ES Rack and / FANTOM XR so I make beats usually by setting the drums and everything that I want on my sound mods 1st. Then make my beat using samples in the mpc and using the midi on the mpc to controll the mod's. Now how can I get the mpc to save those settings I have set on my sound mods? This way I dont have to write down all 16 channels what insturments they are at for what song.... You with me? So if I start with PGRM 1 on the mpc and go thru that will that save the drums i have set on each sound mod. rember im using 2...

Can anyone help with this? The only other thing I can think of is to record every thing in the mpc. taking all the sounds one by one for the kit i want and sampling them in the mpc then using them on the pads and forget all about midi, but i love midi I have so much more control.

how do you save your beats? just the samples, prg and snd?
if you save "the entire memory" the mpc will save a project file and if you load that back you are where you left including all midi program changes.
you have to start the sequence for one time to let the mpc send the program changes but then you´ll be good.
what me bothers more is the fact that the mpc pads are in order for general midi and so i have to manually change all the midi notes for all the pads.
if some one knows how to make the mpc keep a midi note 1-88 setup, maybe with the help of the autoload function, please let me know.

So....I can cut on my sound mods then set them the way I want them make my song in the mpc and save entire memory...but the mpc dosent know what channels I have set I just use midi 1-16 A-D I have the pGRM set to OFF....If I set it on 1 if messes everything I have set previously...make sense?

if you set prg to off the mpc cannot send the programs to your modules. you have to set up all channels on your modules manually.
if you use midi out a for the motif and midi out b for the phantom you have 16 midi channels for each module. then you can use prg 1 to 127 (just highlight the number and turn the data wheel) to switch the programs on your modules. if that is not enough, because you have more than 127 programs (sounds) on your modules you have to use msb and lsb messages to send the proper information to the modules. read up the manuals for the motif and the phantom on msb/lsb. on the mpc highlight the prg field and press window. here you can set msb/lsb for each track.

Wow, thats exactly what im looking for the same lsb/msb are the same as on hte mpc thats good to know i just copied all 16 then set them with the mpc b-4 i start a new beat that way i dont have to worry bout it I jusat know that the 1st 24 tracks are going to be the sound mod's and the rest can be sampling or what ever or another way is just set the channels that i use on the mods usually no more thatn 5 on each one...so 10. then ....well damn this means possibilites are endless!!!

I think you should be able to change all the notes and then save it as a blank program to your internal memory/CF card/ Hard disk and then load the program each time you need it.

I think you should be able to change all the notes and then save it as a blank program to your internal memory/CF card/ Hard disk and then load the program each time you need it.

Two years ago, someone made a "Blank Melodic" PGM and shared it on the MPC1000 forum.
I have it saved and just uploaded it.

Another handy little tip regarding CC PGM.

If you open up Step Edit and press Insert, you can add a Program Change here, so you can switch Programs mid-Sequence.

So I have herd of this, but can you tell me why someone would use a pgm chng in mid sequence im trying ot find a use for it but i got 16+16+1 cahnnel on my midi mods i have 3 of them....
