Talk and share knowledge on rare records, sources of new samples, vinyl, diggin, etc

so, i have a sample that goes "i know you gonna dig this..."

i did a quick search and mostly everything i've found says it's from "he cuts so fresh" by marley marl. i went and listened to it, and it definitely is in the beginning part of that track.

1 thing i wanna know, is that part of that song, or was it sampled then as well? reason being, is i am putting together a booklet for my c.d. and want to make sure i give proper credit and notification to the samples i have, and don't want to list that song, if it isn't from that...

any thoughts?

It's from the Car Wash soundtrack. It's the intro to the "Daddy Rich" song or somewhere around there.
I know it's on A side of the LP.

LOL did you just download the sample off the net?

haha, yeah, it sounds like he did download it, and then he wants to put what samples are used in the liner notes.... haha are you paying to clear those samples or just giving shoutouts?

Marley used it on his shows before he cuts so fresh surfaced too.

there's loads of old school gems on the CW soundtrack, everyone should have it... even the 45 king paid it dues with some of his work

no, i have a record that is used for scratching and battling purposes, and that was one of the samples on there. i thought it sounded cool a couple years ago and put it throughout a song of mine. and i'm not really signed or anything, i just make beats for myself, and putting a bit more effort into my cd and plan on giving it out to a few people and seeing what happens. i just figured i could at least mention where i got the sample from...

its also hard to tell from online forums if peoples comments back are supposed to feel harsh and a bit rough? oh well. i am what i am and i like making beats...sorry if my name or my methods pissed some people off...

A tip for digging noobs . . get the double vinyl not the single as there are more breaks on that.

As for dues paid check 33% God by the Beasties/Dust brothers for a masterclass in CarWash samples#

The song is a bit techno/house/trance. The main focus of the song is a bassline I made, and then added the drums and other sounds over that.

Like I said, the sample was just from a break/scratch/battle record, and I just happen to like it so much out of the 200+ samples on there, that I put it on this song.

It's called "I Know" - second song on the page.

Any feedback is cool too, on that song or any of the others...
