New trim screen? But it's not really too different from the previous...

By Sound Thief Sat Jul 21, 2007 10:41 pm
dunno bout yous but i hink this new screen is a biiig waste of space, for me it has a long empty bar of space after the name of the sample

ive jumped back a step to .27

I'm with Sound Thief - the entire waveform display is a whole row smaller and appears to waste more screen real estate than .27.

quick question,
ever since I got on JJ's os i cant figure it out and been too lazy to browse to his manual.
It's not that important I can live without it, but how do you change the decimal point in trim screen.

you don't change the decimal point... it's a matter of how zoomed in you are. does that make sense? if you zoom in you are making smaller changes, zoom out = larger changes

yeah, it's a retarded way of doing it in my opinion. if you want to move an end point by 1 tick, you need to hit zoom in a bunch of times until it's adjusting the end points by 1 tick. very frustrating on large samples.

they really need to bring back the 2000xl's method of adjusting end points which is if you turn the data wheel slowly, it moves them by 1 tick. turn the data wheel a little faster and it will move by 10 ticks. even faster will move it by 100 ticks. faster yet is 1000 ticks, and so on. if you were zoomed in, you could still move by either 1 tick, or more depending on how fast you spun the data wheel.

implement that, and shift + data wheel can be switched back to it's original function, which is adjusting the contrast.

In my opinion, they should just make this machine work just like the 2000 xl, but also have the extra midi outs, direct recording function, patched phrasing, and the other new stuff working properly. I thought I was getting a machine that worked just like my xl with more features, but I just ended up with a more confusing version of what I was already comfortable with but with a lot more bugs.

Completely agree. I was in total mental agony when I decided to ditch my XL in favor for the 2500. But the larger memory and faster loading was in the end, slightly more important. Still is, I suppose.
