I have a 60II. I was using this Boss SP-303 before I came up. But the Boss
has a mark button. Where you can basically catch the sample by ear.
I was wondering if I may be overlooking this feature on the Akai. Because I am literally going inside the edit sample menu and manually taking the time back, which takes a long time. I know there has to be an easier way than the way I'm using this machine.
This is my first MPC, and I know that practice - reading - and executing is the only way I'm going to learn. Right now I can basically loop Drums and Samples. Haven't gotten itno making my own kits yet. I want to learn the sampling technique.
If anyone has anything they can share with me. Info is needed.
Good lookin' out .. Love this site.

That's basically the way you do it in all MPCs
You have to keep in mind that the 6o was intended to be used for dums and single instrument hits only
that's why its is most commonly used in tandem with a rack/keyboard
I would love to see a direct recording feature included in a new OS
that lets you record from the program menu
and while you're recording from there you just press a pad and hold it down
and once you let off the pad it stops recording
and then it starts again once you press another pad
that way it minimizes time spent trimming and copying

Word. So I am doing it right. This is my first MPC - I don't wnat to mess it up. Waited to long to get one. I love it. Thanks bro. Really reassured me that I'm on the right track. Thank you again - Please be advised I am an MC with the perfect ear, DJ, and now I'm opening up into production, small time production. Getting my tools and tricks right.
I appriciate the response and clearified answer. Besides I know that the Boss I was using is really a toy compared to these Akai's, That mark button was a function amenitied to it's specific brand and usage. Just made it easier that's all. I have no problem getting patient. Tracks will produce and sound will come together. Just taking my time.
Word.
One.
