Hello all,

I have a little problem with using my MPC1k and the USB linked to my computer. On occasion, not always, when I am done copying files from the MPC to my computer and click on "Unplug device", I get a message saying something like "Cannot unplug device, generic volume is still being used. Try again later." Anyone else getting this sometimes? If so, anyone know what it means and how to fix it?

I have come to the conclusion that a shipment of MPCs to Canada, the batch from which I got my first MPC1K and then the second one as I returned the first one, have a bug in the file directory. Both MPC1Ks that I have used have the same problem: when I save a file, the MPC will sometimes create a double in my folder, even when I say "replace existing file". One of the files saved is the real file and the other is a weird, emtpy, corrupt file that I can't open or even delete. Therefore, I cannot use the mass storage card to save my stuff, which pisses me off, and I have to constantly save everything to my PC, not as a backup but as the main file. Ridiculous.

That's because some application that is reading from your MPC , is still running. Like, Windows Explorer is still on the drive that represents the MPC. Just make sure tat all the programs that were connecting to the MPC are closed before you go to the "unplug device" window.

I bought the first MPC that came out in Canada and I never had that problem. Try updating your OS, see if it still happens.

Thanks very much. I'll try that. Do you speak French man? What kind of stuff do you do with the MPC? Later.

I get that with an external USB HDD, sometimes. Even if you close all the programs and windows that were using it, something still has a handle open to it, prob. Windows itself.
I hardly ever hook up the USB any more, I use a CF reader, more convenient.

Ouai j'parle Francais, mais si tu veut parler Francais envoi moi un "Private Message".
And I do alot of styles with my MPC, usualy: hip-hop, drum'n bass, jazz, and electro kinda styles.

Salut!

Stereoroid: I use CF reader too, it's alot faster.
