Fruity Loops or a Mpc 1000

whats better out of these two fruity loops or a mpc 1000 they bascially do the same things make beats?

first got fruitly loops, then the MPC1000... ow my god - glad that I've changed...

I find fruity loops less organic then the MPC1000, I like the FAT groove from the mpc1000... (never felt something like that during 2 years with flp)

It doesnt fvcking matter what you use. For real. A producer I work with only works on Fruity Loops. His beats are ungodly. I'm not one to ride anyones dick, but man, his shit is off the **** hand grenade. Explosive type shit!

On the other hand he also has a MPC. He uses it and he's 'alright' with it.

Then I have another homie who uses a Roland and Fruity Loops. His shit is bangin.

Then ... I have ONE MORE producer friend who uses the MPC only and Cool Edit Pro. HIs **** beats are ungodly too.

So honestly it doesnt matter what you have, its about what you can make.

Sometimes I'll use Reason to create this wicked sample, then pull it into the MPC and sequence it there. Sometimes I'll do it all in the MPC. Sometimes I'll do some vocal sampling from my Mic in my studio, then pull it into cool edit, chop it, then pull it into the MPC.

Its all different cooking utensils for the same dinner. Just put your own spice on it.

Exactly. People need to do their research before making these type of posts. Read for 5 min and you'd realize that almost anything you can do on the computer can be done on hardware, vice versa. What's better or worse...that will be debated until the world ends.

It's up to you. What do you personally need. Do you hate sitting in front of a computer screen, or is that more practical for you? Would you rather be more hands on, or are you damn quick quick and accustomed to that mouse? ETCETCETC...

You got to get out there and get your feet wet - I had a 2000xl sold it to buy a computer and turned back around and bought a 1000 - I still use the computer

Why not use both - export your wave files out of FL and load them up into your 1000?

Honestly, FL is not too bad, but the MPC is superior as far as what it can and can't do, can you sequence an external module with Fruity Loops? Negative. Can you PLAY your patterns on FL? No, it's only a step sequencer... don't get me wrong, if a producer has talent, he will make heat regardless, but the more options the gear presents keeps the producer from reaching limits... for real. I downloaded the FL demo and it was cool, even fun, but I don't think it has the potential my MPC2000 has, as far as if I expand my studio the MPC can still sequence all the gear in my studio, I can actually play the patterns I want and sequence them. It's more fun than placing sounds on a grid and just listening to what happens. At least to me anyway.

The problem with Fruity Loops is that it sounds like Garbage even with good samples. Maybe if it was being run through a high end sound card like Pro-Tools it may sound good but if you are using it through something like a Soundblaster Audigy it takes a shitload of tweaking and layering to make it sound even remotely close to a piece of hardware. Acid and Reason seem to have a pretty good punch for PC beats but Fruity Loops does something to Wav files to make them sound like crap.

Try cranking Fruity Loops beats on a PA system for a live show and you will really notice its lack of punch and thickness. If you mix down each individual track through Pro-Tools they will sound decent (I think that's what 9th Wonder does)

But it's definitely not impossible to make dope shit on fruity. There are even a few dudes on soundclick that use fruity and they completely blew me away....shit was incredible! You have to find what works for you!

Forget about the intrument, and focus on create original stuff. Props for everyone here for share their knowlodge and doubts. FL Studio CAN sequence external modules (check MidiOut on www.flstudio.com/help), and if you connect an external midi keyboards (it includes the akai mpd16) you can play the patterns. The MPC its an all in one machine with a good quality (phrase) sampler, filter and sequencer, but each artist has his tools of preferences. BTW, you can use an external hardware sampler in FL, if you want to have this kind sound quality...

You show her on an mpc, shell be like DAMMMMNNNNNNNNN. Then you get more respect. Then she thinks your the greatest "beat maker" ever to live. You know???

the mpc1000 is alot better plus it protable

but like said above ... it doesnt really matter ... u gotta know how to use what u have and u need good sample for either

I HATE fruity loops. I have been struggling with it for years. I mean I really do know how to use it, but I despise its interface. There is nothing out there quite like it to destroy any potential inspiration I have.

The MPC has been a godsend I have never used anything as excellent. I am having fun for hours at a time. I don't know how many times I have sat down with Fruity only to be bored and frustrated after 15 minutes. I have spent a minimum of 2 hours a session with my MPC.

I can program beats that I feel, complete with velocity sensitivity. I hate having to click-click-click that sh!t into play with fruity.
