EB-16 EXPERTS?....

I've got a sample with a lot of highs, like keys and flutes, and i'm trying to bring these out more. I know how to use the effects board, but i'm not sure what everything means and does. For an instance such as wanting to bring out the highs in a sample, what are good filter settings? Are there any effects tutorials out there?

My best explanation, trial and error. I don't think I've ever really seen a good detailed explanation of the EB 16 ( I could be wrong though)as you can use it in so many different ways...

bring up the highs
bring down the lows

mess with the EQ before you sample it, then tweak it in the EB16 after you sample it, you should get decent results after you put in some overtime on the eq knobs and filters...

How many bands is the EQ on the EB16?

The EB-16 has four bands, high, low and 2 mids. It also has this "F-MOD", which i'm not sure how it effects the sounds, esp. in conjuction with the other settings. I've done trial and error, but it doesn't neccessarily do what i think it should be producing, which is why i've asked for some tips. To all the smart-asses...Why waste your time?....

Relax man,nobody is being a smartass.... The EB 16 is just not fully understood...Its probably the most complex feature of the MPC....I've had mine for almost 4 years now, and I still mess with it sometimes because theres no true formula for what it can do.....

Frequency modulation. This will modulate the particular EQ setting at a specified rate. Typically this wouldn't be used for percussion samples.

Also keep in mind that you can control how wet or dry each effect is in the effect mixer settings. The EB16 EQ is nothing like a typical mixer EQ, because the effect is mixed with the original signal. If you wanted it to act like a regular EQ, you have to make sure that the specific effect is turned all the way up in the settings for that effect and the effect is turned up all the way on the effects mixer. Hmm, thats real confusing (hope I didn't lose you)... but they definately didn't design it very well. Why couldnt they just give us dedicated EQ on every channel

I wish they would've gave us dedicated eqs on every track!
