EPS & MPC60 users

My 60 had a broken floppy drive when I got it. Turned out it wasn't even hooked up. I tried hooking it up, but no success with the original Mitsubishi floppy drive.

I still had the old floppy lying around from my mpc2000xl (Teac drive) and tried getting that to work by jumpering it correctly. So far no success either. It seems to me that in the best case, I get the 'This disk is unusable because the area reserved for the file directory is damaged. Please try another disk'. Now this DD floppy is brand new so it's not an old one I had lying around and I can format it perfectly with my pc. I really don't think there's anything wrong with my floppy I'm using.

I'm testing it by trying to format a DD floppy (no HD with the tape trick, but a true DD drive). Now it occurred to me that this floppy drive might be formatted for my EPS with EPSDISK. Could this be a problem for the 60?

I'd appreciate it if somebody could tell me if this can cause a problem or not. Or if somebody has an EPS and a 60, and could try formatting a DD disk with the EPS or EPSDISK and see if the 60 can format it.

Nobody?

It seems weird to me that some people get a Teac drive (8549) to work and others don't. I've done my research, I've tried every jumper setting I could find online and I've even spent a whole week experimenting with other jumper settings after I knew which jumper setting means what.

Maybe it has something to do with the OS? I'm running 2.xx so not the latest 3.10.

If it's not really a floppy drive problem, what else could be causing the mpc not formatting a DD floppy?

I just wanna get my baby up and running in perfect condition ASAP!
