I still have my 2000xl sitting next to me. I'm considering selling my 2500 and getting the mcd reader or internal hard drive modification kit for the 2000 xl. I don't think i'll miss direct record or beat slicer that much.

I would sell the MPC 2500 too and keep the XL if I didn't need:

1. 128 MB memory
2. Faster processor/more powerful editing
3. Audio tracks
4. Chop shop
5. Real time pitch-shift
6. more than 4 programs per sequence
7. standard 8 outs
8. more powerful effects
9. internal CD/DVD ROm
10. 4 MIDI Outs
11. USB back up
12. Q-link sliders/knobs
13. Grid editing
14. Recordable track mutes
15. Resampling sequences
16. Master dynamics
17. Internal hard drive support
18. Improved external MIDI control

Thanks for the post jahrome. Now I will never wonder if I should have saved some bucks and gotten an XL. Keep the 2500 limits in perspective!

Cheers,
