i need help badly...

i bought a zip drive today and i wanted to test if the zip disk i have (old & used) still works, so i made this quick beat and i saved it by SAVE ALL SEQUENCES & SONGS... then i turned my mp off and came back and switched mp on and mp automaticly loaded the sequences (as it turned out just the sequence names) and there was nothing to be heard in the zip :O... am i saving my projects the worng way or why doesnt it work ?... i dont program the sounds (what ever that means), and ive never done beats that way... i usually just record the samples staright to my sequences, can this be part of the problem ?

how can i do the beats the way that when i save em to zips theyre all there when the mp has automaticly loaded em sequences ?!

you have to also save your PROGRAM AND SOUNDS as well as ALL SEQUENCES AND SONGS

do i have to load em to same pads i had them, or does the mp load them automaticly too ?

when you save the program and sounds, it includes pad assignment, PROGRAM settings, etc.. The sequence is only what you've recorded and the settings of the sequence. but the program will save your sounds and every other aspect of the program you're working on.

so in short, yes it will load up exactly how you left it.

i tried that but the pad assignments are all gone :O

then you didnt save it right. If you save A PROGRAM AND SOUNDS or ALL PROGRAMS AND SOUNDS (depending on your preference) then it should save whats on your pads.

the manual should cover all of this though...

the problem is that i dont have a manual :S ive lost it somewhere...

i tried it again and the pad assignments were empty

now i dont know what to do :S

Think of it like this:
Save All Programs and Sounds will save your actual sound files as well as which pad they are assigned to.
Save all Songs and Sequences just saves which pad number (e.g. A6, B12, C3 etc) is pressed at what time.

The idea behind this is really so that you can create a drum pattern and then switch which drum set/sample set that drum pattern plays without re-sequencing it. Granted, your programs have to have the same layout (GM drum layout is what they had in mind, I think) in order for this to work out properly.

yea download that joint and print it out or something. I have all my manuals in binders.

Anyway, of course you have to load all your sounds up first, assign them to pads and name your program in the PROGRAM screen.

When you're ready to save, save A PROGRAM AND SOUNDS and it will save your program.

ALL PROGRAMS AND SOUNDS will save all programs you have open. Use this if you were using more then one program.

ALL SEQUENCES AND SONGS will save just that. all sequences and songs you've created.

umm yeah now i dont get this at all... im reading this manual...

so this is the way im used to do beats...

i load sounds to pads, then i just rec+play em in to sequence... thats it

what am i doing wrong ?

what do you have in the programs ?... how many programs do you do in one beat...

haha i figured the whole thing out by accident... i had been trying to do the programs the way i thought it would be done but had always forgotten to switch the right program on haha...
