recording solo's properly in track mute mode

i can record track mutes in track mute mode just fine. but solo does not seem to work in the same fashion. anyone out there find the same thing?

heres what i do: hit solo and then hit the track i want to solo .....i then either hit unsolo ..or simply hit solo again to bring all the muted track back. however when i stop recording and replay what i did ....for some reason ..once i solo ...unsolo does not kick in....so basically the track i soloed stays on for the remainder of the bars in sequence
